Dutch Supercross is working on a strong field of participants
What a great event the Motocross of Nations was at the TT Circuit of Assen. What a lot of people braved the cold and rain. The riders fought a tough battle on a very tough track. Finally, Team Netherlands managed to win this prestigious country competition. Glenn Coldenhoff was at the basis of the success with two glorious victories.
Jeffrey Herlings, just back from another injury, was fit in time to record two excellent results. “The Bullit” always had to make up for a poor start. Calvin van Vlaanderen rode great and finished well in the heats with an excellent 10th place. Were you there and also cold and wet? This is not necessary on November 1,2,3, 2019, 7 at the Dutch Supercross 1. The next top event, the largest international supercross in the Netherlands, will take place in the Eurohal in Zuidbroek, behind the well-known V.d. Valk Hotel-Restaurant on the AXNUMX. Just like in Assen, trucks will also arrive and depart in Zuidbroek with soil to build a challenging SX track in the hall. In contrast to MXoN Assen, the SX track, designed by the recognized ex-Supercrosser Freddy Verherstaeten, must be hard. Only then can the specialists in this branch of motocross make their jumps properly and get around the track quickly. Supercross is above all clear and spectacular. The competition duration is short. Intensive for the riders. The format is easy to follow. The riders qualify via series, semi-final for the final final. The winner of the final stands on the highest step of the podium, is number XNUMX, and receives the kisses from the Red Bull girls.
Riders
At the MXoN Assen it was the Estonian Harri Kullas who took the holeshot in the second moto on behalf of Team Estonia and ultimately managed to take fourth place in that moto. Kullas is one of the riders who can perform well both outdoors, such as at Assen, and indoors. Last year Kullas won on Saturday evening during the Dutch Supercross. Not all motocrossers are good supercrossers. Riders such as Tom Koch (D), Dylan Walsh (NZL), Ilker Larranaga (E), Hugo Basaula (POR), Filip Neugebauer (CZ) and Dennis Ullrich (D) are examples of riders who rode in Assen and also during this winter the indoor SX races can be seen. Most of them were previously in Zuidbroek and are expected again this year. Supercross came over from America. That's where the specialists come from. The previous edition of the Dutch Supercross was won by Nicolas Schmidt (USA) on the Castrol Power 1 Moto Base Suzuki. A team that will be present again during the upcoming ninth edition of this event. The man behind the starting field is ex-cross rider Sake Lemstra. Lemstra is in contact with the teams and drivers. “With the start of the German ADAC SX Cup series a week after our race, all major German teams have confirmed their participation in the Dutch Supercross 2019. The names of the riders are not yet known because the teams themselves are still working on contracting SX specialists. But just like previous editions, there will be a very international and strong starting field. The riders who ride in Stuttgart a week later will start the season with us. For them, the Dutch Supercross is a great opportunity as a final preparation for the German indoor season that is important to them,” said Lemstra. Three Dutch teams have completed their line-up. Heli MX Husqvarna will compete with the American Steve Mages (SX1) and the Dutchman Jeffrey Meurs (SX2). JBR/JVS Design Alfred Gerrits comes with four drivers. The Dutch Boris Blanken (SX2) and Jeffrey Buitenhuis (SX2 Cup) and two Englishmen Matthew Bayliss (SX2) and Scooter Webster (SX1). MX Team Roelf Sema brings a strong line-up with specialists from France, Hugo Manzato (SX2), Brice Maylin and Guillaume Brun, both competing in the SX1. Nolan Cordens, the 2 European SX2018 Champion, will also defend the colors of Roelf Sema. The Swiss HFour Racing comes with Kim Schaffter (CH-SX1), Dylan Woodcock (GB-SX2) and Clement Briatte (F-SX2). Johannes Bikes (D) brings two SX2 riders, Andrea Bonifacio (I) and Gabriel Chetnicki (POL). All names will be announced in the coming weeks, including a number of stars from the USA.
Entertainment
In recent editions, the line-up during the Dutch Supercross proved to be very strong and very international. That will be no different this year. A feast for the connoisseurs. They know who these guys are and what they can do. Riders who, except at top events such as MXoN Assen, an MXGP or now the Dutch Supercross, never ride in the Netherlands. So the fans know where to find Zuidbroek. But the Dutch Supercross is also a fun outing for those who are less interested in motocross. In addition to the exciting races, there is a lot of entertainment. It will be a complete party every day with DJ Willem, Esperando's, Millstreet Band, the Utlopers and the Legacy dance team. Dutch Supercross, a great combination of top sport, spectacle, party and fun.
