Cynthia Swets takes advance on NK Women's title
Cynthia Swets made an advance on the Dutch Championship in the women's class during the MON 24MX national motocross in Oss. On the “De Witte Ruysheuvel” circuit, Swets finished third and fourth in the heats. With this she achieved fourth place in the daily rankings, but even more importantly she had a lead of 107 points in the National Championship standings. With one race to go, she seems certain of the title, but there are still 120 points up for grabs in Lierop for a double heat victory. If Swets does not participate in Lierop, she will be credited with 94 points and will no longer be traceable by Kaylee van Dam. If she does appear at the starting gate in Lierop, completing one heat seems to be enough to officially win the title. However, in the worst case scenario, if she were to be disqualified twice when participating in Lierop, Van Dam would only need two second places to be crowned Dutch Champion. However, it did not stop Swets from having a party with family, friends and supporters to celebrate the approaching Dutch title, which she certainly deserves. Of all the ladies, she was one of the few who took a seat behind the starting gate every race and was the most consistent driver. With this she will most likely be rewarded in Lierop by officially winning the Dutch title.
In the daily rankings the victory went to a supreme Britt Jans-Beken. The Lakerveld Racing driver managed to win both heats with a lead of at least one minute over Lianne Muilwijk, who also finished second in the daily rankings with two second places. With a fourth and third place in the heats, Lynn Kelders stayed ahead of Swets based on the second heat and was able to take her place on the podium of honor for the third time this season. Van Dam completed the top five of the day's rankings.
First heat
It was Jans-Beken who was the first to leave and immediately showed that she was by far the strongest. On the first passage, the gap with Kelders had already been opened and it was not actually a question of whether she would win the heat, but rather how big her lead would be. Muilwijk, Swets and Stacey Nooijens followed behind Kelders. In the second lap it was Muilwijk who took over second place from Kelders and van Dam reported fifth by passing Nooijens. In the following lap Kelders also had to let Swets pass and thus the positions were taken. The mutual differences became increasingly larger in the following rounds, with the exception of the difference between Muilwijk and Swets. Jans-Beken won the heat with more than 90 seconds ahead of Muilwijk. Swets reduced the difference with Muilwijk to more than six seconds, but had to be satisfied with third place. Kelders and van Dam finished the heat in fourth and fifth place.
Second heat
Those who had hoped for more battle in the second heat were soon disappointed. Jans-Beken again took the holeshot and once again showed that she was by far the fastest. She was followed at the first passage by Muilwijk, van Dam, Swets and Anika Erpeka. The only shift occurred halfway through the heat. Van Dam passed an Erpeka and took over fifth place. Jans-Beken won the heat with more than one minute ahead of Muilwijk. Well behind, it was Kelders who now managed to hold off Swets and crossed the finish line in third. Van Dam again took fifth place well behind
