VMCF: Collet and Weigert narrowly become champions!
The many supporters had to wait until the last series until the VMCF champions were known! Ultimately, Vincent Collet (intro photo) and Fréderic Weigert were crowned Inters 250 and Inters 500 champions respectively in Kersbeek!
It has never been as exciting as this weekend in the VMCF. Because the final series in the juniors, nationals and Inters started with points differences that never exceeded 10 points.
Started at the Inters 500 Frederic Weigert with a margin of only ten points Jasper Van Der Mieren And especially Dennis Wagemans would make it very difficult for the multiple champion in Kersbeek. Wagemans did what he was expected to do and won the race, but Frederic Weigert was ultimately left with seven bonus points to succeed himself in the MX1 class! Jasper Van Der Mieren (photo below) was also still in the running, but a fall in the final series killed the Suzuki rider.
The MX2 class became even more exciting because at the start of the last heat the lead of the defending champion was Vincent Collett exactly 1 point left Bastien Houche! The two gentlemen were not eligible for victory in Kersbeek after a demonstration of Mark Boat and the duo Ilan Heirwegh and Pako Destercq. Still, Collet won his battle because Bastien Houche, betrayed by his nerves, had a very bad match, just like Collet. Vincent Collet thus books a new title for Bastien Houche and Mathieu Lefevre, who kept a crashed Daimy Koch off the podium.
Still Thibo Van Den Hauwe!
In the Nationals too, the difference after the opening heat was still one point Tibo Van Den Hauwe (photo below) and Kevin Peetermans. The two gentlemen had come close to each other when Peetermans ducked down. The title immediately went to Jorama rider Thibo Van Den Hauwe. A real relief for Van Den Hauwe because he suffered engine trouble yesterday.
However, the victory in Kersbeek went to a very strong Kenzo Wilberts. Less tension in the MX2 class. Wesley Dieudonne took the win here as a DAM rider Wesley Smolders became the deserved champion.
Finally, the juniors also became very tense. Dominated in the MX1 class Gary Destercq the championship but went to MX2 Colin De Poortere en Senne Hermans arrange the final series with five dots. Senne Hermans did the job masterfully and the would-be doctor won his first title, which also made it a party for the Banden Michel team.
