Segers wins MCLB race on beautiful Zegelsem circuit
Last weekend the VJMO and MCLB were guests in Zegelsem. The local Opel Roelandt-Roman team once again designed a beautiful course, one that would not look out of place in an “Old Skool BK”, renewed “All Federation BK (FAM)” or even a sidecar world championship.
This weekend, however, it was the scene of an MCLB game. In this match the spectators saw David Segers take the overall victory. In the first moto, the Standing Construct Geeco Bikes KTM pilot fought a fierce duel with Jurgen Wybo. The latter was able to handle the technical course well with his 250cc Leon Sagaert by Xavier Beel Husqvarna, making it extremely difficult for David Segers, who was riding a 450cc. But in the last lap Jurgen Wybo succumbed to the pressure of David Segers, who successfully completed his overtaking hunt from fifth place. Jurgen Wybo finished second and Torpjurn Van Hoe finished third.
In the second series, David Segers took the holeshot, but the man on the KTM could not hold the lead until the finish. After a few small mistakes, a strong Mattis Meersschout came on strong and managed to take the lead. Mattis Meersschout did not relinquish this place after that and won with a tiny lead, ahead of David Segers in second place and Kevin Fors in third place.
With a series victory and a second place, David Segers secured the overall victory on the beautiful Zegelsem course. On the Inters 500 podium, the “veteran” was joined by Mattis Meersschout (4-1) and Jorne Tytgat (5-5). In the MX2 class or the Inters 250 class, the day's victory went to Gian Scheele ahead of the wildcard pilot Ilan Heirwegh and Bart Klijn. Jurgen Wybo, who finished second in the first moto, fell off his bike in the second moto and had to give up, seeing his chance of a podium go up in smoke. For the followers of this piece, the victor at the International B Open will probably come as no surprise, because Greg Demeulemeester also crowned himself the strongest in this category in Zegelsem, this time he was too strong for Damon Tanghe and Sven Roelandt.
