Arminas Jasikonis finishes the job in Lichtenvoorde
The tension in the toughest classes of the KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross was minimal. Arminas Jasikonis came to Lichtenvoorde with a 31-point lead and by finishing the first round in third place he already secured the title. The Lithuanian went for a moto victory in the second moto, but then he had to bow to Glenn Coldenhoff! The Standing Construct rider came second and first on 'Circuit De Schans' and thus won the day's classification ahead of Romain Febvre (1-3) and Jasikonis (3-2).
In training Coldenhoff is the fastest man, but the sprint to the first corner is for Febvre. The Yamaha rider takes the lead ahead of Coldenhoff, Jasikonis and his teammate Jonass. The Latvian quickly takes over third place from the leader in the standings. At the front, Febvre distances himself from Coldenhoff, who is followed by the IceOne Racing rider. The fifth man Petar Petrov is quickly passed by Micha Boy de Waal and Brian Bogers. At the front, the former MXGP champion controls the race and takes victory on a circuit that he found too dangerous last year. Coldenhoff comes second ahead of Jasikonis who thus secures the title. Jonass finished fourth ahead of De Waal, who was followed by Bogers throughout the race. The HRC rider tries everything to pass the Hutten Metaal rider, but he just doesn't succeed.
The last round of the season will be led from start to finish by Coldenhoff. In the first round Febvre manages to take second place from the new champion, but not much later the Frenchman makes a mistake. Jasikonis tries to put pressure on 'The Hoff', but he is unable to do so. Coldenhoff wins ahead of Jasikonis and Febvre, who managed to displace Jonass from third place halfway through the race. The former MX2 world champion crosses the finish line in fourth ahead of Bogers
The Zwarte Cross will be held next year on July 17-18-19 and that will be the final of the KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross. The calendar of the other competitions is not yet known.
