Erzberg: old fox Jarvis does it again!
No, no changing of the guard yet in the Erzberg Rodeo. Graham Jarvis is and remains the best! Yes folks, built in 1975, you read that right. Jarvis gets off to a good start and the rest are here for the effort.
Experience, Technology, super precision and calmness: 44-year-old Graham Jarvis has everything.
The young guard with Josep García, Manuel Lettenbichler, Johnny Walker and Wade Young led after 2 checkpoints, but Jarvis was already 14th there.
Halfway through the race, Jarvis had already moved into third place. Once we arrived at the super tough rock section Carl's Dinner (named after organizer Karl Katoch's favorite part of the course), the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider's phenomenal engine control really came into its own! After the well-known stone fest, Graham was the first to get through and after that he did not relinquish the lead.
However, you won't hear us tell you it was boring. At the foot of Grüne Hölle (the green hell) Lettenbichler had managed a strong recovery so that he almost overtook Jarvis. In fact, both toppers were close to each other. Ultimately, Jarvis' experience was decisive here too. For Manuel Lettenbichler, the youngest rider ever to finish the Erzberg, it was another podium place after last year. The young German did move from three to two. The strong Spaniard Mario Roman (Sherco) finished third ahead of his compatriot Alfredo Gomez. Gomez came back strongly after a bad start.
Jarvis wrote history today with his fifth victory in the Erzberg Rodeo. After all, he equals Taddy Blazusiak's record. Laia Sanz also distinguished herself in her first participation. The female trial and rally raid topper achieved her personal goal and came to Carl's dinner!
