Jacobi close to the podium, Van de Moosdijk impressive!
The F&H Racing Team enjoyed traveling to Portugal for the sixth Grand Prix of the season. Last year the Kawasaki team achieved their first Grand Prix podium on the beautiful Agueda circuit. The magic of this performance was still palpable among the trio who hunted for even more Grand Prix points this weekend. Henry Jacobi was very close but he just missed the podium. Roan van de Moosdijk got the green light at the last minute to make his GP debut on the Kawasaki. The 18-year-old rider did great and scored a fifth place in the second heat! Adam Sterry managed to finish eighth in the day's standings, which was won by Jorge Prado, who now also has the lead in the world championship.
1st Round
It looks green in the first corner when the trio of the F&H Racing Team gets off the starting blocks very well. Prado takes the best start ahead of Darian Sanayei who makes a mistake in the second corner and crashes. This happens exactly before Adam and Roan have to hit the brakes, causing Roan to fall and therefore lose the necessary time and places and have to come back from far behind. Henry can go outside and tries to follow the pace of the leader. It is Prado in the lead and the 22-year-old German can hold second place for almost 30 minutes. Then Kjer Olsen comes along and manages to take over second place. Henry does not simply accept this, which unfortunately results in a small crash in the last lap. As a result, he loses third place and crosses the finish line in seventh. His teammate Adam quickly manages to enter the top ten after the traffic jam in the second corner. The friendly Brit comes back to eighth place. Roan fell out of the points in the early stages, but he has a great pace and comes back to a nice fourteenth place. With this he scores his first GP points!
2st Round
Like a dart from a bow, the Motul-lubricated Kawasaki with Roan at the wheel sprints to the first corner. The Brabander makes the best start and takes the holeshot award. He goes well on the first climb, allowing Prado, Evans and Henry to pass. Roan then manages to hold on to fourth place until two laps before the end. Henry is in third place for the first half of the race, but the duo in front of him is coming into focus. Evans' pace has to slow down in the closing stages as Henry has passed him and he tries to catch up with leader Prado. That just doesn't work and the Spaniard becomes the winner ahead of Henry and Evans. Kjer Olsen always has a strong final phase and with that he manages to displace Roan from fourth place. Roan crosses the finish line in fifth place and is welcomed as a hero by the South Holland team. Adam started twentieth and managed to fight his way back to a respectable twelfth place. All three F&H men end the weekend in the top eight overall. Henry narrowly misses the podium with a fourth place.
Next game:
The next Grand Prix won't be long in coming because the French Grand Prix is on the calendar for next week. This is the seventh GP of the season and the European 250cc Championship continues at the Saint Jean d'Angely circuit.
