Kjer Olsen is the new leader in the MX2 World Championship!
According to expectations, Thomas Kjer Olsen is the new leader in the FIM MX2 World Championship. The Husqvarna rider won both heats on the beautiful Matterley Basin circuit. Second place goes to the Dutch F&H Racing Team thanks to Henry Jacobi! The German comes second and third, which is enough for silver. The podium is completed by Tom Vialle who scores his first GP podium spot! The best Dutchman is Calvin Vlaanderen, the Honda rider comes fourth while Davy Pootjes is good for a neat sixth place. Jago Geerts is ninth, Bas Vaessen is eleventh. The other Lowlanders will not score this weekend.
1e some
The best start is for Vialle, who is followed by Dylan Walsh and Kjer Olsen. The English-born Walsh makes good progress, meaning the Dane needs some time to pass the REVO Husqvarna rider. Once the JM Racing driver has passed, he can quickly join Vialle and take over the lead. Vialle later also sees F&H Racing rider Jacobi pass and the German tries to connect with leader Kjer Olsen. It becomes exciting in the final phase, but the Dane is not surprised and he wins for Jacobi. Vialle finishes third ahead of Ben Watson and Michele Cervellin. Until the last lap, Conrad Mewse seemed to be the best Briton, but he suffered machine problems. As a result, Mewse dropped back to seventh place, just ahead of Pootjes! Flanders already crosses the finish line in eighth place, while Vaessen also scores in thirteenth place. Geerts falls to the ground twice, but he still manages to finish sixteenth. There are no points for Rene de Jong (25th), Freek van der Vlist (27th) and Marcel Conijn (29th).
2e some
Vialle also takes the best start in the second race, again followed by Walsh. Kjer Olsen can quickly work his way up to second place and then leave Vialle behind. Flanders needs some time to displace Vialle from second place, but the born South African succeeds. Jacobi is now third ahead of Vialle and Watson. Geerts sends the Kemea-Yamha to sixth place ahead of Pootjes, Vaessen comes in twelfth! Van der Vlist (21st), De Jong (30th) and Conijn (31st) also did not score any points in this round.
Next week this championship will come to the Netherlands for the Grand Prix at the Eurocircuit of Valkenswaard!
