Cameron Durow on stage in Mill
Cameron Durow started the KNMV Open Dutch Championship very well at Circuit Park De Kuilen in Mill. The South African managed to finish second in both heats. The GPR rider also finished second in the daily rankings! Rob van de Veerdonk certainly had the speed, but he was unlucky. In the first moto he crashed and had to settle for 19th place. Later in the afternoon he did not reach the finish due to engine trouble. Rene de Jong came into action on the Matterley Basin circuit, where he finished 25th and 30th during the heats. Jamie Carpenter also competed at the British Grand Prix but unfortunately failed to qualify for the EMX250 competitions.
ONK125:
In training, the GPR duo immediately showed themselves at the front as Rob and Cameron managed to place third and fourth respectively for the competitions. The start of the first moto was great as the Laurense Motors-Husqvarnas entered the first corner shoulder to shoulder. Cameron took the lead followed by his teammate! In the second laps Rob crashed on the waves, causing him to lose many places. Fortunately, he was able to continue and the rider from Lith managed to cross the finish line in nineteenth place. Cameron manages to hold the lead for a long time but loses it due to a mistake. Then Camden McMellan also passes by, but he can be caught again a little later. Verbruggen wins the heat ahead of Cameron who is met at the finish by a very satisfied team.
The start in the second moto is a little slower, but Cameron quickly manages to join the leading group. Unfortunately, Rob's race is over quickly, he has to leave the race in the first round with machine trouble. Cameron comes out of the first round seventh but he is in no hurry. The 16-year-old rider builds up his race very well and he works his way up to a good second place! By crossing the finish line in second place in both heats, he also becomes second in the daily rankings!
Next game:
Next weekend the European 125cc Championship starts in Valkenswaard. More than 100 riders have registered for this race in the Brabant sand, so it will be a tough weekend for the GPR riders.
