VLM Arendonk: Grobben and Vromans take the win!
After the halved match in Vorselaar and a cancellation, we were looking forward to the match in Arendonk to see how the favorites fared in the ranks of the VLM. The spring sun provided pleasant scenes on and next to the De Roobeek circuit. A large crowd showed up for this match. We focused on the race itself and looked at the Inters 250 and 500cc.
Inters 250cc
At the start of the first series, Dieter Vromans and Kevin Schellens were in good shape after the first corner. Enzo Aerden followed in third. After a few laps, Schellens had to loosen up a bit and lost a few places. Jordi Van Mieghem started in sixth place and did a great catch-up race, ending in an excellent second place. Bram Schoepen, who started fifth, advanced to second place but had to let an oncoming Jordy Van Mieghem pass him halfway. Jordy Kenzeler from Alken was able to move from tenth to seventh place.
In the second series it was Vromans again who shot away like a comet from behind the starting gate and rode cleanly to the series victory. He finished 8 seconds ahead of Jordi van Mieghem. Bram Schoepen came second after the first lap and only had to let Kevin Schellens through during the sixth lap. Dieter Vromans became the overall winner with two series victories ahead of Jordi Van Mieghem and Bram Schoepen.
Inters 500cc
The best start in the first series came from Cedric Grobben. He was able to outwit everyone and kept a tight pace until the finish. That was necessary because Jens Van Meer stayed close to the leader in second place. Steve Seronval had started third and crossed the finish line 24 seconds behind winner Grobben. Kristof Salaets, who had started sixth, dropped to 15thde place at the finish. Wouter Van Massenhoven started poorly in fifteenth place, but made the best recovery to fifth place.
In series two, Roy Sillien was the best ahead of Steve Seronval and Mike Vanderstraeten. Seronval was able to take the lead on lap five and never relinquish it. Cedric Grobben, who started fifth, finished second, just under four seconds behind the winner. Van Massenhoven moved from twelfth place to sixth. Jens Van Meer finished third. Cedric Grobben became the winner with a first and a second place. Steve Seronval came second ahead of Jens Van Meer. Next week the pilots will be guests at the Horensbergdam in Genk for their next competition.
