Belgian success in France for Ghembala & Van Vaerenbergh!
The Northern French championship started last weekend in Gouy and Artois. The line-up was overcrowded in almost all categories, with many Belgians present. In the premier class, the 500 cc, Sabry Ghembala was unstoppable. The Yamaha rider won both series and would later also win the super final.
The best Belgian was Mathieu Van Der Beken in fourth place while Jeremy Coen made his comeback in sixth place. Furthermore, Killigan Delroeux (8th) and Jochem Walckiers back in tenth place.
In the 250 cc class, nothing could have been done against the unleashed Kristof Van Vaerenbergh. The East Flemish dominated both heats with ease. Unfortunately, Van Vaerenbergh would drop out in the super final with a serious knee injury, which would immediately put him out for the rest of the season. Van Vaerenbergh did win the 250 cc class ahead of Matteo Puffet, who caused a Belgian party. Yann Meulemeester also competed at the front and was able to close the top ten.
In the 125 cc Beloften class there was nothing that could be done against the dominance of the French Beloften Steve Boulanger. However, Avo Tack finished second, while Emiel Soens also excelled and finished seventh.
In the 85 cc class there was nothing to be done against the coming man in France Greg VAsseur. He was followed by the little Belgian Hugo Stiennes, while Belgian champion Noah Deboutez and Bryan Maes were also in the top ten.
The second test of the Northern French championship is scheduled for next weekend in Fontaine les Croisilles.
