Multi-year KTM contract for Liam Everts
The promising Liam Everts sees his excellent 2018 season crowned with an official KTM agreement. KTM announced this itself today. In this way, the link between the 'Everts motocross dynasty' and the Austrian manufacturer is also strengthened again.
Everts, 14, has evolved as a rider over the past year. Although it was only his second season on an 85cc bike, he took third place in the EMX85 championship. Although Liam can count on the expertise of his father Stefan – who is currently recovering from a malaria attack – he can also rely on the advice of four-time world champion and grandfather Harry, as well as his mother, Kelly. Both Kelly and Harry played an important role in Stefan's successes in the World Cup.
The Evertses will work from their own structure in 2019 as Liam prepares for his first season on the KTM 125 SX. The bike with which Rene Hofer showed off so strongly this year in the EMX125.
Liam Evert: “It feels like an honor for me to ride with KTM because I feel like they are the best brand in motocross. We have now made a long-term agreement, but I have been riding a KTM for a while and I really like the bike. It's amazing how easy it is to drive and how it suits my style. To get this contract is great. I am very happy and very much looking forward to the future. Hopefully we can show great things together. We go step by step and build.”
Robert Jonas, vice president of Offroad: “Liam comes from one of the best families in motocross and while that gives him an advantage, it also brings pressure. But we're excited about what we've seen from him so far. It is clear that the progress he has made with his speed and technique in 2018 points to even greater possibilities.”
