Milko Potisek wins 2nd competition for the French sand championship!
In Loon-Plage, the participants of the “Championnat de France des courses sur sable” had their first marathon race of about 2 hours 30 in front of them. Where in Berck-Sur-Mer they worked with series and then evolved into a final in which the points were divided.
In this match, Belgian Daymond Martens took the holeshot. After one lap the former Le Touquet winner was still leading, ahead of some surprising names such as Maxime Sot, Sullivan Thomas, the not so surprising Adrien van Beveren and Victor Brossier.
After about half an hour of matches, however, the usual names had reported to the front. Yentel Martens had already managed to take the lead. This for his French competitor Milko Potisek, Jeffrey Dewulf, Daymond Martens and Adrien van Beveren. In addition, we had to conclude that after half an hour the toppers were still within a handkerchief of each other. The first four were only ten seconds apart. Almost nothing in a match of this magnitude. Pit stops still had to be made, and there were still two hours of action on the schedule.
Lap after lap, and with about an hour and a half left on the clock, the duo of Milko Potisek and Yentel Martens continued to shadow each other. With barely a few seconds between the leader Yentel Martens and Milko Potisek. In the meantime, both had built up a nice lead of half a minute over Jeffrey Dewulf and just under a minute over Daymond Martens. But what does all this mean in a tough race like this, with pit stops to go and so much time left on the clock.
Not much as it turned out, because a little later, after everyone had refueled their much-needed fuel, Milko Potisek suddenly came through with a nice lead! The Frenchman suddenly had a lead of about half a minute on his home course over both Belgians Jeffrey Dewulf and Yentel Martens. Both changed positions several times, but for the time being Yentel made himself boss over Jeffrey Dewulf.
With about half an hour left on the clock and the final series of pit stops approaching, the crowd saw a Milko Potisek who clearly had the race in hand. This for Yentel Marten, Jeffrey Dewulf, Daymond Martens and Camille Chapeliere. While the final pit stops were being completed, we saw Milko Potisek secure his victory with a very quick pit stop. We also saw Jeffrey Dewulf pass his compatriot Yentel Martens in extremis. As a result, the championship leader finished third and is now leading the championship together with Milko Potisek. We saw Daymond Martens finish fourth ahead of Camille Chapeliere.
Steve Ramon finished seventh, ahead of Petar Petrov who finished ninth and competes for the Hexis SR Honda team in this championship. Further on in the results we find, among other things, the name of Adrien van Beveren at twelve, a second good result in a row for the pilot who was seriously injured in the Dakar rally one year ago. The former Gebben Van Venrooy Kawasaki pilot, and now Maxime Desprey, who now also competes for the Hexis SR Honda team, finished nineteenth, just barely in the top twenty. Raf Belmans, from Herentals, in turn finished thirty-fifth.
