MX2: Pauls Jonass took pole in Afyon.
Pauls Jonass took pole position during the Turkish Grand Prix on the entire new Afyon circuit. The KTM rider managed to take the lead on the first lap and never relinquished it. After fifteen minutes of racing, Jorge Prado gave the impression that he wanted to fight for pole, but the 17-year-old rider still opted for second place. Thomas Kjer Olsen crossed the finish line in third place. Calvin Vlaanderen is the best Dutch with sixth place, the only Belgian this weekend is Brent Vandoninck and he comes eleventh. Bas Vaessen crosses the finish line in twelfth place, unfortunately no success for Micha Boy de Waal who does not finish.
The best start is for Prado who is immediately under fire by Covington and Jonass. For a moment, Flanders also joins the battle, but the Honda rider then drops back to sixth place. Jonass manages to take the lead in the first lap and then never relinquishes it. In the second round, the Dane Kjer Olsen manages to take over third place from teammate Covington. The American then rode a lonely race and finished fourth ahead of Henry Jacobi. The battle for fifth place is fierce because the German is followed by Flanders and Ben Watson, who was in fifth place in the early stages. However, the Yamaha rider was caught up by his colleagues.
All four Grand Prix matches will be broadcast LIVE on Eurosport2. The broadcast starts at 11am, after all, there is an hour's time difference with Turkey and there are no happy classes! Both MXGP rounds can be viewed on the NOS Studio Sport website, Playsport Telenet customers can watch the MXGP races via TV from 11am! Unfortunately no images on MotorsportTV this weekend!
