Mathias Van Hoof about BK enduro in Ouffet
More than 10 pilots were guests in Ouffet for the 2018th round of the 260 Belgian Enduro Championship. This enduro used to go by the name Esneux, but from now on the starting point was moved to Ouffet. Just like the first round of the season, this round counted for the Inters championship of Belgium and the Netherlands. As a result, no fewer than 58 Inter pilots were at the start.
During the previous competition, which counted for the Belgian Championships in Dinant, Herentals player Mathias Van Hoof unfortunately had to abandon the fight after 1 round due to a technical defect. However, this was the first time in his career that the Beta-Denicol rider had to retire.
With a fresh engine and full courage, the young man headed to Ouffet. “I have trained hard and a lot in recent weeks. There are now many matches coming up in quick succession. The tests looked good and varied. With a fast and hard cross special and a technical enduro special. At the beginning of the day I had a hard time finding the right rhythm.”
After two of the 4 rounds, Beta – Denicol pilot was in 15th place in the general classification. However, the differences at that time were extremely small between places 8 and 20, namely barely 25 seconds difference. “Going into the last lap I was in 19th place. I had lost some time in SP5 because tape had gotten into the wheel. The last time on the hard cross special it went smoothly with a 10th time overall. Going into the last test, we were within 6 seconds with 10 pilots. A few small mistakes in the last test caused me to lose 1 place. Still a bit disappointed that this still happened. “
Ultimately, Mathias finished 17th in the overall combined Dutch-Belgian rankings and 5th in the E3 class. In the general classification he is now in 12th place overall and 3rd place in the E3 class.
