Covington finally wins, Jonass closes in!
Thomas Covington has already been on the GP podium six times this year. However, the Husqvarna rider was not yet on the top step this year. On the entire new Afyon circuit, the American won the GP with a first and third place ahead of Pauls Jonass (6-1) and Thomas Kjer Olsen (5-2). In the title battle, Jorge Prado loses six points to Jonass, the difference between the KTM riders is now 24 points. The best Lowlander in Turkey is Calvin Vlaanderen, he comes tenth ahead of Bas Vaessen. Brent Vandoninck manages to score fifteen points.

In the first half of the match, Jonass is in charge ahead of Prado, who had to deal with Covington for a while. Little by little, Prado comes closer and after more than 15 minutes of the match he goes on the attack. The KTM riders collide when Jonass sprints ahead of Prado to the inside of the corner. Covington takes the lead and wins after being briefly put under pressure by Lawrence. Prado managed to do good business in the title battle, he finished third ahead of the British Ben Watson and the Dane Thomas Kjer Olsen. Despite a painful knee, Jonass still finishes sixth. The best Dutchman is Bas Vaessen, the Limburger comes twelfth for Flanders. The South African suffered a big blow but fortunately he can continue his match. Brent Van Doninck crosses the finish line in fourteenth, Micha-Boy De Waal does not finish due to engine trouble.

The FOX Holeshot Award also goes to Covignton for Watson and Prado in the second round, but the 'Redplate holder' is then quickly relegated to fourth place. The Spaniard manages to catch up with Watson again, but Kjer Olsen arrives in the second round. Covington leads almost the entire race. With more than a minute left on the clock, the American makes a mistake and that gives Jonass the lead. The Latvian wins ahead of Kjer Olsen and Covington, who narrowly manages to stay ahead of Watson. Lawrence finishes fifth ahead of Anthony Rodriguez and Prado does not get further than seventh place, leaving him off the podium this GP! He also loses eleven points to rival Jonass in this round. Flanders is the best Dutch with Vaessen in eighth place. Vandoninck is now thirteenth and De Waal scores five points again with a 16th place.
