MX2: Pauls Jonass shows his muscles!
In Sevlievo, Pauls Jonass won the first round of the Bulgarian Grand Prix. The KTM rider thus achieved an important victory as he came to the seventeenth GP of the season 28 points behind. Prado comes second ahead of Husqvarna rider Thomas Kjer Olsen. Brent Vandoninck is the best Laaglander, he comes eighth ahead of Bas Vaessen, who also scores well.
This time too, Prado wins the FOX Holeshot Award. The Spaniard is followed by Thomas Covington, Kjer Olsen Jonass, Hunter Lawrence and. At the top of the first climb, Lawrence makes a mistake, losing time and also causing Kjer Olsen to get into trouble. Marshal Weltin manages to take fourth place with the F&H Kawasaki! In the initial phase, Covington has to make way for Jonass, who does not lose sight of leader Prado. After ten minutes the leader makes a mistake and shows Jonass his front fender. Initially, Prado manages to hold on to the lead, but a little later the Latvian tries again. Now the reigning champion is finally showing some muscle and putting his SX250F in front of it. A nice lead is built up and Jonass wins the first round of the weekend ahead of Prado and 'TKO' who manages to overtake his teammate Covington. Lawrence had quite a bit of work to pass Weltin but the Australian finished fifth! Vandonick (8th) and Vaessen (9th) score neatly and the same applies to Micha Boy de Waal who sends his Honda across the finish line in twelfth place. Calvin Vlaanderen is now also a Dutchman, but he did not finish after a crash.
