MX2: Covington stays ahead of title rivals in Sevlievo.
For the fifth time this year, Thomas Covington has taken pole position. The American managed to beat Jorge Prado in a direct duel on the Sevlievo circuit. The leader in the FIM MX2 World Championship finished second ahead of his great rival Pauls Jonass. Calvin Vlaanderen is the best KNMV rider with fifth place.
It is no news that Prado takes the best start when the starting gate falls for the qualifying race. The Spaniard is followed by Covington, Jonass, Maxime Renaux and Calvin Vlaanderen. Jonass cannot follow his predecessors and sees the difference increase to eight seconds. After 15 minutes, Covington increases the pressure and after Prado makes a mistake, the JM Racing driver manages to take the lead. Thomas Kjer Olsen just missed the connection after a poor start and the Dane finished fourth for Flanders. After a good initial phase, Brent Van Doninck drops back to eleventh place, Micha Boy de Waal crosses the finish line in eighteenth, while Bas Vaessen does not finish and has to be the last to go to the starting gate tomorrow.
All four Grand Prix races will be broadcast LIVE on MotorsportTV. The broadcast starts at 12 noon, after all, there is an hour time difference with Bulgaria! Eurosport2 also has images of all four matches, but the broadcast starts at 17.30pm. Both MXGP rounds can be viewed on the NOS Studio Sport website, Playsport Telenet customers can watch the MXGP races via TV from 13 p.m.!
