Double series win for Plessinger in 250 Ironman National
The morning showers had turned the Ironman National course in Indiana into a veritable mud puddle. After Unadilla, the pilots were confronted with a tough race in the mud for the second time this year.
This was clearly a shot in the arm for recently crowned AMA 250 Motocross Champion, Aaron Plessinger. The Yamaha pilot managed to prove himself the best in both heats and ended his career on the 250cc machine nicely. Although a milestone can still be placed during the “Motocross of Nations” where the Monster Energy Yamaha pilot, for America, will compete in the 250cc MX2 class.
On the all-round podium of the Ironman National, Aaron Plessinger was given a Geico Honda pilot by both accounts. For example, RJ Hampshire came second in the overall rankings with a third and fourth place, good for about 38 points. Another Geico Honda pilot Chase Sexton counted one point less, he achieved these points with a second and sixth place. Our European man in this class, Dylan Ferrandis, scored only twenty-nine points with a tenth and a fourth place, which left him in seventh place in the overall classification of the Ironman National that many will remember for a long time.
If we look at the final championship standings we see that Aaron Plessinger has collected more than a hundred points ahead of Alex Martin who completely lost his momentum at the end of the championship. We must also note that rookie Justin Cooper is excelling in third place. And also pay attention to Dylan Ferrandis in eighth place, the Frenchman missed the first three games because he wanted to be 100% fit and did not want to start the season at 80% and then immediately end up in the rag basket again. A good choice, as it turns out, because in addition to some very good results, the Frenchman still finished in the top ten of the championship.
