Karssemakers third during the FIM Junior World Championship!
What better way to wash away a disappointment than with champagne? That's exactly what Kay Karssemakers did during it FIM Junior World Championship in Australia. The 14-year-old rider managed to finish third on the beautiful circuit of Horsham. The victory went to KTM colleague Caden Braswell, the American finished third and first during the heats. Second place also went to the Netherlands, Kay de Wolf came second!
After sixth fastest time in qualifying, Kay is confident in both competitions on Sunday afternoon. Kay gets off to a reasonable start in the first moto and immediately settles into the leading group. After a number of laps, fourth place goes to the Boxtel native who sees his predecessor taking distance. However, there is no immediate danger from Ryder Difrancesco, so Kay's fourth place is no longer in danger. When the checkered flag falls, fourth place goes to the Alpinestars-clad crosser, who thus has a prospect of a podium.
Kay also managed to get off to a good start in the second round with the Vos Oss-KTM. From seventh place he entered the top five in the first half and then improved one more place. The Brabander also finished fourth in this round and could therefore climb onto the podium! For the third time in five years, Kay can climb onto the podium during the World Youth Championships!
Dean Gregoire:
Last week in Belgian Law, Dean Gregoire managed to finish third in both heats during an AMPL competition. Last Saturday during a JMS competition, the 8-year-old cross rider performed the same. However, due to a transponder problem, the KTM rider was not classified in the first heat. Still, it was a successful day because Elvis Totney managed to win the 50cc class!
