Podium reactions EMX85 with Everts and De Wolf
Thanks to a victory yesterday and a second place, South African Camden McLellan took the European 85cc title. Next to him were two low riders on the podium, title favorite Kay De Wolf (second) and Liam Everts (third).
Camden McLellann, European Champion: “I can't put into words how I feel right now, but I'm super happy! The engine also ran excellently all weekend. Yesterday I had to work to win because I didn't have a good start, but I went for it and was able to take the lead. Finally I had a good start in the second moto. As soon as I was in second place, I knew I had to keep riding smoothly. In the first section of the circuit I kept making mistakes. Then I told myself that I had to keep my head down and stop pushing because second place was enough.”
Kay De Wolf, second overall: “The first race wasn't that good of course because I had a crash at the start. But it was still good that I could finish sixth. In the second moto I got the holeshot and was able to hold the lead for the entire moto. I am very happy with that victory and with my second place overall.”
Liam Everts, third overall: “In the second moto I didn't have a good start, so I had to come back from far back in the field. In the end I finished fourth, my riding wasn't great. Actually things went better in the first race yesterday. I was never in the right flow, but I am satisfied with the result because I am on the podium again. I am grateful for that, I would also like to thank my parents and certainly my father and Ben Townley who have made great efforts for me. I would also like to thank my sponsors: KTM, Motorsport Future, Seven, 6D and Oakley.”
