Vanluchene/Van den Boogaart conquer the Belgian Sidecar Cross Championship in Hasselt!
Marvin Vanluchene and Ben van den Boogaart secured the Belgian Sidecar Cross Championship during the first round of the Belgian Championship Final in Hasselt. For Vanluchene, this is his first national title, for Ben van den Boogaart it is already the fifth time that he can call himself the best in Belgium.
In the first heat, Daniël Willemsen was untouchable and took the heat victory together with Robbie Bax. Brother Etienne Bax was second for a long time, but bad luck threw a spanner in the works. When the dueling Santermans and front starter Arne Dierckens then collided and both crashed, this was grist to the mill for team Vanluchene who easily took second place in the first heat and thus already secured the Belgian title. Boussy/Sabbe took away the other crumbs and finished third in the first heat.
The brand new Belgian champions of 2018 showed in the second heat that the title was no easy feat and won, but they were chased throughout the heat by Dierckens/Rostingt who came second and Bax/Stupelis who would come third. The combination that crossed the line in seventh place, nestor and organizer in Hasselt, Kristof Santermans, together with his Lithuanian co-pilot Beleckas, achieved just enough points to ultimately call themselves vice-champion of Belgium. Arne Dierckens ended up third in the overall standings for the Belgian Championship, breathing down Santerman's neck.
