Van de Moosdijk takes a hard-fought victory.
Roan van de Moosdijk of the ASTES4-TESAR Yamaha team managed to take his very first EMX250 victory of his career in Ottobiano, Italy. The rider from Eindhoven scored consistently and only finished third in the heats twice to take the overall victory.
In qualifying the pace was high on the sand circuit of Ottobiano. The driving was fast and this made the differences between the riders small in the time training. Roan finished fourth in his group and thus secured a good starting place in both heats.
In the first moto he got a good start and quickly took third place. He rode at the back of the two leaders for the entire race, but could not find a place where he could take over the lead. Roan continued to put pressure until the final phase, but was unable to pass them and finished in a nice third place.
In the second moto there was more work to be done for Roan as he came out of the top fifteen on the first lap. He came back to the front at a constant pace. In the sweltering conditions it was important that forces were well distributed and Roan did this. He struck in the final phase and managed to move up to third place. This was enough for Roan to take his very first EMX250 victory of his career and he was very happy to take his place on the podium.
In the standings for the European Championship, the rider from Eindhoven has climbed to seventh place. The next competition will be held on the weekend of August 4 and 5 in Lommel, Belgium.
