Shane McElrath Wins Muddy Creek, Worries About J.Martin!
The fifth round of the AMA250 championship was held at the Muddy Creek circuit. With a championship that is completely open and where anyone can still become champion, this is without a doubt an interesting championship.
In the first moto it was championship leader Aaron Plessinger who took the holeshot. But the Yamaha pilot made a mistake in the first lap, causing him to fall briefly. This brought the Martin brothers to power. During the first laps it was the older of the two, Alex Martin, who managed to hold off his younger brother, but after a few laps the TLD KTM pilot Alex Martin had to acknowledge his superiority in Jeremy Martin. This was immediately the signal for the Geico pilot to move on to victory in this first round. This for rookie Justin Cooper and Shane McElrath. The other “bigger” names had a downright poor series with Aaron Plessinger who did not get further than ninth place, Dylan Ferrandis finished eleventh one place ahead of Alex Martin who unfortunately crashed out of his good result.
The second moto started with a holeshot for Alex Martin, but also with a huge crash for Jeremy Martin. The latter lay on the ground and pointed to his back, and seemed to be preparing his helmet for removal. But the Geico Honda pilot did not get up. Images that will upset every motocross fan.
While they were taking care of Jeremy Martin at the edge of the circuit and preparing him for transport. His brother Alex raced up front for the win. For laps, the second man in the race, Dylan Ferrandis, put pressure on the Troy Lee Designs KTM pilot. In vain it seemed, but just when the pressure seemed to decrease. There was the circuit that, with a big kicker in one of the tracks, knocked Alex Martin out of the saddle two laps from the end and out of the race for the win. Dylan Ferrandis took over and then rode well to his first moto victory of 2018. The Frenchman won ahead of Shane McElrath, who took his first overall in a motocross race with a third and second place. Third in this heat, the unfortunate Alex Martin crossed the finish line, ahead of Chase Sexton and championship leader Aaron Plessinger, who never really found the right rhythm today.
The latest news about Jeremy Martin is that the young man is conscious and has sensation and movement in all his limbs. It is not yet known what the injury he sustained is.
