Kay Karssemakers wins both heats in Dreetz.
In Dreetz, between Hamburg and Berlin, Kay Karssemakers has managed to throw a burden off his shoulders. The 13-year-old rider won both heats during the third race of the European Championship 85cc North-West. In recent weeks he was often close, but time and time again things went wrong. The race day went smoothly on the sand circuit of MC Dreetz and the Team Youth Pro MX rider also climbed to second place in the standings.
EMX85:
On Saturday things went completely wrong when Kay was involved in a massive fall. The Boxtel native fought back to eleventh place and therefore did not have the best starting position for both heats on Sunday afternoon.
The start of the first moto is very good and Kay takes the lead with the Vos Oss-KTM. He builds up a five-second lead, but due to his own mistake he loses a lot of time. De Wolf looks for a connection, but luckily the Alpinestars-clad rider sees the danger and manages to increase the pace. The first heat ended as winner with a lead of about seven seconds.
The second heat of the day over 20 minutes and two laps starts less well. Thanks to pushing hard, Kay manages to come out of the first corner in about fifth place. In the first round the Arai-supported rider manages to work his way up to third place. To take over second place one lap later. The gap of almost two seconds on the leader is being erased. When De Wolf makes a mistake, Kay knows how to strike immediately and takes over the lead. He then breaks free and crosses the finish line with a 20 second lead! A real double blow with the Motorex-lubricated SX85!
Next game:
Next week the KNMV ONK Youth will continue in Borculo in Gelderland. The fourth EMX85 will be held a week later at the Sverepec circuit in Slovakia.
