Karssemakers wins, Kuijpers on the podium.
With two podium finishes from the Youth Pro MX Team, we can look back on a successful weekend in Borculo. Kay Karssemakers managed to win the sixth match of the KNMV Open Dutch Youth Championship on the BMAC Borculo circuit. The KTM rider came first and second, which felt like the overall victory. In the 50cc class, Luca Kuijpers managed to climb onto the podium, the 8-year-old rider came third in the daily rankings. The British Elvis Totney finished both heats in sixth place. After a strong first heat in which Dean Gregoire finished fifth, things went less well later in the afternoon. The rider from Geldrop finished tenth in the daily rankings ahead of his buddy Sjevy Klokgieter, who is back after his injury.
50cc:
After his fourth training session, Luca can start the race in fourth position. In the first lap he sees Jenairo passing Beerens. The rider from Son en Breugel finished fifth ahead of teammate Elvis. He didn't get a good start but came from 16th to sixth place! In the second moto Luca makes a very good start, but in the first lap he drops back to fourth place. He can hold this for the first half of the match and then launch the attack on third place. With success because the Brabander takes over third place and also becomes third in the daily rankings. This time too, Elvis started outside the top ten and now he comes back strongly and is finished sixth.
65cc:
On Saturday Dean came into action during the JMS competition in Lummen. The KTM rider finished first and second during the motos, putting him second in the overall standings. The start of the first moto is very good and Dean comes out of the first corner in third place. He then drops back to fifth place for a while, only to regain a spot a little later. In the final phase, Sem Taspinar is stronger and he passes Dean who crosses the finish line in fifth. Sjevy started the race just outside the top ten and stayed there for the entire race. De Helmonder crosses the finish line in thirteenth place
In the second moto Dean starts the race in eighth position. He quickly manages to pass Dex van de Broek. However, a slide throws a spanner in the works for the Alpinestars-clad crosser. This causes him to lose some time and two laps later he falls again. There is no more than eleventh place. Sjevy also rode a strong race in this round, once again resulting in thirteenth place. A nice comeback after his broken foot!
85cc:
Despite a poor start, Kay managed to take the lead halfway through the first heat. A fight ensues with De Wolf and both men regularly change places. After ten of the twelfth laps, Kay regains the lead and the oldest Youth Pro MX rider does not relinquish it. Kay also starts the second round in fifth place and takes second place after two laps. Then leader De Wolf has already built up a large lead, but the Boxtel native does not give up. The backlog is being eliminated little by little, but those left behind are preventing the connection from being made. The former 65cc World Champion finished second with his Vos Oss-KTM, which gave him the day's victory.
Next game:
In two weeks the KNMV ONK will continue at the Lelystad circuit. Next week Kay will be in action at the fourth EMX85 North-West competition in Sverepec, Slovakia
