Kops and Hoesen increase their lead in the National Championship sidecar.
During the World Championship Sidecars there was a role in the supporting program for the National Championship Sidecar (KNMV). In the heavy Lommel sand, Iljen Kops & Moreno Hoesen were by far the strongest combination. The duo managed to win both rounds with a big difference over Thom van de Lagemaat & Roger van de Lagemaat (first round) and René Stalman & Joep Leuken (second round). Leuken and Stalman finished third and second in the heats and finished second in the overall standings. Van de Lagemaat & van de Lagemaat had to catch up from the middle of the pack in both heats. The duo's efforts were rewarded with a second and third place in the heats. This combination completed the podium in the overall rankings.
The grapes were sour for Sven Wisselink & Bart Sloot on Sunday. The duo took the lead in the second heat for a long time and seemed to be heading for second place in the overall rankings. After six of the eight laps, disaster struck for the duo, ultimately crossing the finish line in fifth place. This placed them fifth in the overall rankings behind Jeroen Boeve & Rick Sellis.
With three games to go, Kops & Hoesen are in the lead of the National Championship. Stalman & Leuken follow with 50 points. With the 100 points to be achieved per round, the road to the title is still long and no combination at the top of the National Championships can afford to make a mistake.
