The last years in the MX2 World Championship.
Due to the age limit, there are riders who we will no longer see in the FIM MX2019 World Championship in 2. For Vsevelod Brylyakov, Samuele Bernardini, Micha Boy de Waal and Marshall Weltin, it's time to look further!
With Brylyakov, Yamaha wanted to do well in the 250F during his last season. A serious knee injury threw a spanner in the Russian's life. What the future will bring for 'Seva' is unclear.
After winning a GP round last year, Bernardini (photo) wanted to end his MX2 career on a good note. In his youth, the Italian was always at the front. The switch to the Grand Prix was less successful. After a year of gaining confidence in the EMX300, the 23-year-old rider returned to the World Championship. Now it remains to be seen whether Bernardini will grow into the MXGP or whether the Italian brand will continue alone with Maxi Nagl.
At JUMBO-NoFear-Honda-Vamo Racing, both riders have to leave provided the team only remains active in MX2. Both De Waal and Weltin have to make the switch and both hope to perform well in the second half of the season. We wouldn't be surprised if Weltin returns to the USA, just like fellow countryman Thomas Covington.
When Pauls Jonass takes his second title, the switch to the MXGP is very plausible. The Latvian was born in 1997, so after this season he still has the opportunity to play in the lightest World Cup class for two more years.
