Creepy Davy Paws shows willpower and scores!
Davy Pootjes of the LRT KTM team showed his willpower in the ninth round of the MX2 World Championship in the British Matterley Basin. Pootjes was struggling with the flu and therefore had to go deep in both heats. After finishing eighteenth in the first heat, he finished sixth in the second heat until the final stages. However, due to a small slide, he lost two more places, meaning he crossed the finish line in eighth.
Davy didn't know in advance what to expect from the weekend. He was struggling with the flu and was therefore far from fit. Still, he wanted to make the best of it and try to score as many points as possible.
The start of the first moto was not good, so he only entered the first corner in around fifteenth place. On the circuit where the pace was particularly high, Davy rode in fourteenth place for a long time, but in the second part of the race he found it more difficult. A few small mistakes caused him to lose places and fall back to nineteenth place. Davy did not give up and managed to regain one place in the final phase, crossing the finish line in eighteenth.
In the second heat Davy did much better. A good start allowed him to start the race around fifth place. He rode in sixth place for the entire moto and showed good pace. Unfortunately, he crashed with two laps to go, losing two more places. Tired but satisfied, he crossed the finish line in eighth place, putting a positive spin on a tough weekend.
In the daily rankings, Davy finished in twelfth place and is now in eleventh position in the standings for the world championship. Davy does not have much time to rest because next weekend the next race of the championship will be held in St. Jean d'Angely, France.
