Vsevolod Brylyakov out with injured knee
Kemea Yamaha Official MX2 rider Vsevolod Brylyakov left the race on Tuesday after twisting his knee in the second moto. “Seva” suffered a broken ankle bone (bone in the ankle) and tore the anterior cruciate ligaments of the knee.
The 22-year-old Russian recently returned to form and finished third in the GP of Trentino, Italy. For the time being, Brylyakov remains in Moscow, where he will recuperate under the supervision of his trusted surgeon Dr. Sergey Demin in the Military Hospital. As soon as it is known about his return to competition, this will be announced
Vsevolod Brylyakov: “I can't explain the feeling I have right now. The weekend in Russia was great, my speed was there and everything went perfectly. Every session I felt better and I finished fourth in the qualifying race. To have your season ruined by something as stupid as sticking your leg out in the waves and twisting your knee is unbelievable. What a downer. I just have to look at the positives now. The fact that I am recovering quickly gives me confidence and also that I have recovered earlier from serious injuries. I don't want to think about how long it will take to get back. I just want to focus on a full and quick recovery. Then we'll see when I can be there again.”
Erik Eggens: “First of all, this is of course a bitter pill for Vsevolod, and also for the Team and Yamaha of course. Especially after a strong and positive preseason and a solid start. We were relieved that 'Vseva' had fully recovered from his shoulder injury. His results kept getting better and he really fit well on the YZ250F and the Kemea Yamaha MX2 structure. You could also see this in his third place in the second heat in Arco di Trento. Now we just have to stay positive, I have every confidence in his recovery process.”
Hans Corvers: “It is also difficult for me to express what I want to say. This injury is pure bad luck. It is difficult to accept that this is happening to Vseva, a guy who does everything for his sport. He works hard, trains hard and now he is in the rag, without even falling, just because his foot hit the ground. Everything went so well this season. Things kept getting better, including in Russia where he finished fourth in the qualifying race. Now I just hope he can recover well. Hopefully he can come back before the end of the season. He deserves a chance to show everyone his speed and power.”
