HOT: Todd Waters fills in for Brian Bogers!
We wrote it before and today it was confirmed. Todd Waters was chosen by Team HRC as a replacement for the injured Brian Bogers. Waters will start his substitute from the MXGP of Latvia on the weekend of May 12 and 13. The 27-year-old Australian becomes the teammate of HRC Honda leader Tim Gajser.
It is unclear how long the Australian ex-MXGP rider will continue to work in the World Championship. Brian Bogers After all, his foot will have to go under the knife again on May 7. It is therefore not yet known exactly how long the MXGP will remain inactive. As is known, he raced Todd Waters already a full season in MXGP in 2015. Todd is a five-time junior Australian motocross champion and three-time Australian vice-champion. He also represented Team Australia in the MX of Nations in 2012, 2013 and 2015. Since last year he has been working in Australia for the Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team.
Todd Waters: "Words can't describe how excited I am to be back in MXGP with Team HRC! It's a dream come true, so I would like to thank the team very much for this enormous opportunity. Of course I would like to wish Brian a quick recovery, because I know how difficult it is for every rider to be forced to watch from the bench.
I feel like I have done the necessary work to be ready for my seasonal debut in Latvia. Of course I also know that it is now the 7th GP and that my competitors have been able to build up their speed in the meantime. This time, however, I am more mature and experienced myself. So I know better what to expect from how things are going in Europe. This makes me feel more prepared and ready to focus on the upcoming matches. I want to show what I am capable of in order to secure my chances of returning to MXGP in the future, because I certainly feel at home in the World Championship!”
