AXUK: Soubeyras wins the title in a super exciting final event!
In the SSE stadium in Wembley in London the big question on everyone's lips was, who will be the new Arenacross UK champion?! Will it be Thomas Ramette for the fourth time, or will Cedric Soubeyras finally shake off the backpack with “I don't win any AXUK titles”?!
The duo of fighters who literally wanted to drive each other's legs from under each other's bodies in 2016 during a super exciting title fight, now saw each other again two years later in the same place and with the same commitment. And with only three points between the two, things could get messy!
But it didn't become a mess! We once again received high-level sport. In the heats, both pilots effortlessly qualified directly for the final. The one who could not qualify directly was our compatriot Jens Getteman. One exception to last week, however, was that the Belgian was good enough and fast enough to qualify for the lifebuoy of the Head-To-Head LCQ, where he also found names such as Jack Brunell, Matt Bayliss, Luke Norris, Adrien Escoffier…
The LCQ did not survive our lowlander, but its evolution makes us enthusiastic for the competition in Hasselt!
Australian Dan Reardon has finally achieved success!
In this final we saw that Australian Dan Reardon had saved the best for last. The multiple Australian supercross champion had no success until London, but now managed to win in this final! This for the gamecocks Thomas Ramette and Cedric Soubeyras. Unfortunately, these two points were not enough for the SR75 World Suzuki Frenchman to win his fourth Arenacross title. Especially knowing that “Souby” scored four extra points in the hot lap, expanding his lead from three to seven points. A much-needed expansion to achieve the championship!
The championship ends with Cedric Soubeyras as Arenacross UK champion, just three points ahead of Thomas Ramette! Talk about a wonderful and close championship! As third in the championship, Charles LeFrancois can join us on the podium!
In the Pro Lites, the title went to Joe Clayton, who has already placed himself in the Pro event several times and also showed that he is very fast on his 250F Kawasaki! The championship in the Supermini class was a perfect match for Seb Tortelli's pupil Carl Osterman.
