Nathan Watson dominates in Grayan-et-l'Hôpital
The penultimate race of the French sand cross championship was held in Grayan-et-l'Hôpital, France. On the grueling sand course, we were looking forward to seeing what the favorites could do after a while of relative peace. It was the British Nathan Watson who apparently had digested the month's rest in the championship best. The Factory KTM pilot who will participate in the brand new World Enduro Super Series (WESS) next season managed to relegate his competitors to extras by a large margin. We saw Camille Chapeliere cross the finish line more than two minutes behind and Daymond Martens crossed the finish line as the best lowlander in third place. The top five was completed by Sebastien Dulot and Timothee Florin.
The leader going into this race, Belgian Axel van de Sande, finished in sixth place. With one round to go in the championship, he retains the lead with about 115 points ahead of Camille Chapeliere and 121 points ahead of Sebastien Dulot. However, in the last round, the legendary race of Le Touquet, double points can be earned. With 300 points still to be earned, Axel van de Sande is not yet sure of the title.
Ricky Claus finished twenty-first in the Grayan-et-l'Hôpital competition. Jeffrey Dewulf was in turn disqualified after cutting the course.
