Race report side series BK Orp-le-Grand!
For the boys and girls of the national classes, the competition in Orp-le-Grand also meant the end of their cross summer. Due to the cancellation of the competition in Veldhoven, the Cup classes will not return to action until October 8. The final competition of the BC in those classes will then take place in Baisieux.
After Mons, the competition in Orp-le-Grand was only the second BMB competition on Walloon territory this season. The matches in 'the side series' were generally very enjoyable to follow, even if this was sometimes made difficult by the amount of dust. By the way, you can get all the results here proofread.
Youth 85cc
BK leader Avo Tack was met with resistance in Orp-le-Grand. This was partly due to Liam Everts and partly due to the French talent Florian Miot. It was the latter who took charge in Orp. The first heat was a success for the Motoblouz rider from start to finish. Yoran Moens, who started strongly, soon had to put up with Avo Tack and then had to give up on Liam Everts. The Sport Vlaanderen rider fought his way from fifth to third place.
In the second heat Yoran Moens started strong again. However, the rider of the ML MX team quickly had to give up on Miot. Liam Everts followed briefly in Miot's wake. However, after the second lap Everts disappeared from the rankings when his Suzuki RM85 broke down. Once in the lead, Miot pulled ahead and authoritatively won the 2nd series. The Motoblouz rider was therefore the logical winner, ahead of Avo Tack and Thomas Claro.
Cup 125
Unlike last week, this time the Beloften rode together with the Nationals 125cc. Moreover, the field of participants for the Beloften was somewhat impoverished because Lars Der Boven, one of the trendsetters of the last few weeks, had to retire injured. Wannes Van de Voorde once again lived up to his role as favorite and won both rounds at the Beloften. The Denicol rider did this for the first time for Romain Delbrassine and Marnick Lagrou. In the second moto, MC Mikkola rider Lagrou turned the tables and finished second ahead of Delbrassine. Lagrou and Delbrassine were allowed to flank Belgian champion Van de Voorde on the final podium.
At the Nationals it was the Frenchman Mathéo Miot who won both heats. The Motoblouz rider was joined on the podium by Thibault Maupin and Killigan Delroeux.
Cup MX2
The Cup MX2 is one of the most interesting BMB Motocross classes to follow this year. The mix of former champions and young wolves is what makes this class so unpredictable and entertaining.
The diversity of the field was beautifully illustrated during the first round. It was former Supermoto champion Marc Fraikin who won the first round for upcoming FPCNA talent Thomas Delvoy, Bradd Descamps. Jan Blancquaert, perhaps the best Belgian amateur cross rider ever, beat former world champion Steffie Laier for fourth place. The result might have been different if Lucas Derycke had not fallen in the first round. After a catch-up race, Derycke finished 11th.
In the second heat Derycke put things in order and won by 10 seconds. ahead of Fraikin. Fraikin barely managed to hold off the strong Laier. It is clear that a former women's world champion like Laier is a boost for the level of the Cup MX2. Thomas Delvoy won the final classification in the Juniors MX2, ahead of Lucas Derycke and Bradd Descamps.
In the Seniors, Steffi Laier stood on the top step of the podium. The Racing Center KTM rider won ahead of Jean-Michel Henaut and Kevin Pierroux. Marc Fraikin was the best Expert this time ahead of Jan Blanquaert and Dimitri Lemercier.
Cup MX1
Crossers who successfully make the transition to the Enduro, we have become used to it. However, the reverse is less common. But in Orp Jean-François Goblet proved that it is possible. The native of Liège is not going to the ISDE and therefore competed as a cross-country rider in his own region. And with success because Goblet would win both heats, always ahead of Husqvarna Belgium teammate Wim Vanderheyden.
In the Juniors MX1 the overall victory went to Jonas Dockx, who was flanked by Corentin Sbaiz and Ken Craeghs. 'Jeff' Goblet was the logical winner in the Seniors MX1, ahead of Quentin Wester and Julien Tarin. Wim Vanderheyden was the best Expert for Frédéric Brumenil and Jimmy Godet.
