VMCF Axel: Jens Van Meer again!
The VMCF'ers had to complete their first part of a very busy weekend on the RES circuit of Axel, which was again in perfect condition as usual. Slowly but surely, the sand specialists seem to be making their mark on the VMCF sand month! Jens Van Meer achieved his second double at the VMCF after Veldhoven, although he was not inferior to the French beach racer Victor Brossier.
However, things went terribly wrong in the first heat for Jens Van Meer, who dropped out at the start. Jerome Benonit and Junior Slegers were also able to chase immediately because they immediately accelerated at the front. Frederic Weigert, Dave Van Dun and Roy Ghysel started very strongly and Roy Ghysel, who was driving home, in particular rode smoothly away from the opposition. In the meantime, the chase was fought very closely by Dave Van Dun, Eric Foguenne and Matthias Plessers who had their hands full with an astonishing Ronny Van Hove. Halfway through, Roy Ghysel was still in the lead, but the positions of the pursuers had changed drastically. Frederic Weigert and Ronny Van Hove should have taken over the role, but their place was quickly taken over by the Frenchman Victor Brosser and Jens Van Meer who had come through the field at lightning speed. Leader Roy Ghysel made a serious mistake on the sixth lap and fell spectacularly. Dave Van Dun took the lead, but the Van Meer-Brossier duo was immediately in his control. Jens Van Meer showed no mercy and rode from last to first place in this heat. Dave Van Dun seemed to lose his second place, but Brossier crashed into the fence in an all-or-nothing attempt on the last lap, leaving Van Dun in second ahead of Eric Foguenne and Matthias Plessers. Victor Brossier finished disappointingly fifth in front of Frederic Weigert and the first MX2 rider Killigan Delroeux who had to start with spare material.
The final series was started by Joshua Feytons, who brought Matthias Plessers and Victor Brossier into the wheel. Eric Foguenne, Dave Van Dun, Jens Van Meer and Michael Bruyninckx also had a not bad start, while Gianni Van Dievel and David Foguenne now crashed in the first round. Van Meer rode a lot faster than the opposition and took the lead on the third lap, only to quickly crash into the ground. Joshua Feytons took the lead again until Victor Brossier accelerated. The Yamaha rider took a small lead over Jens Van Meer, Matthias Plessers, Eric Foguenne and Dave Van Dun. However, only Jens Van Meer would close the gap to Brossier, who is starting to ride better and better at VMCF. Van Meer was still a size too big and the Kawasaki rider also won the final series ahead of Victor Brossier and Dave Van Dun. Killigan Delroeux had come on strong in the final laps, allowing 15-year-old Belofte to take a nice fourth place ahead of Matthias Plessers and Ronny Van Hove, who took over the place of the crashed Eric Foguenne.
A new double victory for Jens Van Meer. He got Dave Van Dun and Victor Brossier on a truly international stage. In the MX2 class, Killigan Delroeux took victory while his teammate Glenn Bielen was the best among the B riders.
