MCLB: Segers wins in Van Avermaet's home village!
While Greg Van Avermaet made all East Flemish Hammen residents proud by winning Paris-Roubaix. MC Waasland organized a competition this weekend in the home village of the brand new Roubaix winner! The course on the “Vossestraat” became the battleground for the MCLB pilots.
In the “Inters Class” it was a matter of seeing whether David Segers could maintain his strong form here in Hamme. The KTM pilot shot eighth out of the starting gate, which meant that he immediately had to chase competitors Jurgen Wybo, Maarten Govaert and Jorne Tytgat.
Jurgen Wybo fell back to fourth after one lap, a place he seemed able to hold for a long time, until Dylan Verleysen snatched it away with two laps to go. This ensured that it finished at four and five.
For these gentlemen, David Segers had passed Maarten Govaert for second place and shortly later entered the duel with leader Jorne Tytgat. He was initially able to defend his lead well, but with a few laps to go, the young Jorne Tytgat had to give up. As a result, David Segers took the victory ahead of Jorne Tytgat and Maarten Govaert.
In the second moto we got more of the same. Once again it was David Segers who managed to take the victory. This now for Maarten Govaert and Dylan Verleysen. The day's ranking logically went to David Segers. Maarten Govaert and Dylan Verleysen were allowed on stage. The two gentlemen also finished second and third in the second heat. In the Inters MX2 the victory went to Tim Vandriessche and in the Inters B to Damon Tanghe.
