Kevin Wouts' Brexit!
No, the Belgian Inters MX2 champion is not going into politics! Despite a good season, Kevin Wouts had a lot of difficulty finding a team for 2017. Although the sympathetic Hoboken resident achieved strong results in both the EMX250 and the Belgian Masters of MX, he now seeks refuge across the pond. Wouts now starts his season on Sunday with the start of the Maxxis British Championship in Culham.
His then team folded during the season and Wouts had to do everything he could to continue driving in more or less normal conditions. Unfortunately, there was little interest in Kevin from the Belgian or Dutch side.
This Sunday, however, the former MX3 GP winner will be at the start of the first round of the Maxxis British Championship with Neil Prince's Lombard Express Suzuki Team. Wouts will also compete in MX2 in Great Britain. There he will compete against, among others, Mel Pocock (Revo Husqvarna), Josiah Natzke (Hitachi KTM UK), Jay Wilson (I-fly JK Yamaha Racing), Harri Kullas (MVR-D Route 77 Energy Husqvarna), Martin Barr (Honda Racing). ), James Carpenter (Revo Husqvarna) and Ben Watson (Hitachi KTM UK). Kawasaki factory rider Adam Sterry will not participate in the British Championship this year.
Wouts went under the knife at the end of last season and will soon compete again for the first time in six (!) months. High expectations from its British debut are therefore not immediately realistic. Still, we are confident that everything will turn out fine for 'Woutske'. He is feeling better and better at the Soes and the fact that there are many sand courses on the Maxxis British Championship calendar this year is certainly not to his disadvantage. The English have been warned!
