HOT NEWS: Will Jasikonis miss the Qatar GP?
As it stands now, there is a very good chance that Suzuki factory rider Arminas Jasikonis will miss the opening GP in Qatar! Jasikonis did not have the correct documents to enter Qatar. In fact, the authorities wanted to put him on a plane back to Brussels immediately upon arrival early this morning. Fortunately it didn't get to that point yet. In the meantime, we are working hard behind the scenes to provide the Lietouwer with a visa, so that he can enter the country and start tomorrow.
Unfortunately, this is not a first because Eastern European drivers often encounter problems at border controls. In the past, Evgeny Bobryshev and Vsevolod Brylyakov, among others, had to miss one or more GPs. A very unfortunate situation for both driver and team because Arminas was without a doubt the revelation of the preseason. The prospects from the Suzuki factory team sound bleak; at this moment (one o'clock local time) it is more likely that Jasikonis is not there than that he is there. Roberts Justs, physical trainer and a mechanic from HSF Logistics Motorsport, both Latvians were also banned from entering Qatar.
