Valentin Guillod wins Spanish MX2 Grand Prix
The Swiss Valentin Guillod of the Belgian Standing Construct Yamaha Yamalube team has won the Spanish Grand Prix. Second place went to Jeffrey Herlings who won the first series, but crashed spectacularly in the second series and therefore did not get further than seventh place. The third podium place went to Jordi Tixier.
Herlings wins and Ferrandis drops out…
It was Aleksandr Tonkov who took the holeshot ahead of Herlings and Anstie. Yet at the end of the first lap it was Jeffrey Herlings who already had the lead ahead of teammate Pauls Jonass. In the opening laps we immediately received the withdrawal from Dylan Ferrandis who was sidelined with a damaged rear brake disc, so no points for the second man in the standings. For second place behind Herlings we had a duel between Jonass and Anstie that was settled in favor of Anstie after three laps. He proved that the British Kawasaki rider was immediately in the right rhythm by immediately riding towards Herlings. But Herlings still kept Anstie at a safe distance and thus won this first series for the Brit. For third place we had a duel between Jonass, Tonkov and Tixier, but it was still the world champion who came third ahead of Jonass and Tonkov. Brent Van Doninck was our best representative with an impressive seventh place and Julien Lieber was also in the top ten with ninth place. We also got an eighteenth place for Kevin Fors and Jens Getteman finished just outside the points in this first series.

Valentin Guillod wins the series as well as the Grand Prix…
The holeshot went to Dylan Ferrandis for the Standing Construct duo Guillod-Lieber. In this start, the German Jacob linked up with the Kemea Yamaha duo Van Doninck-Paturel. Brent Van Doninck, who was still seventh in the first series, was knocked down after 15 meters. But the winner of the first series Jeffrey Herlings also fell quite spectacularly in the opening rounds. Fortunately, Herlings got back up and fell back to eighteenth place. But Max Anstie was also outside the top ten and it was only Jordi Tixier who was the best placed from the top three of the first series. At the front, Ferrandis had his hands full with the Swiss Guillod and Tixier temporarily held the GP win with his third place. In the meantime, Herlings was also on the rise and also passed Max Anstie. The battle for the GP victory was now very open and Tixier was the first to give up a place to Tim Gajser. At the front with four laps to go, Valentin Guillod took the lead over Ferrandis and took the GP win. The Standing Construct rider kept his head down and rode to victory in this second series, as well as his very first Grand Prix victory of his career. Gajser passed Ferrandis into second place and Tixier finished fourth. Herlings ultimately finished seventh and finished second in the final standings ahead of Tixier. Our compatriot Julien Lieber took an impressive fifth place and Jens Getteman now finished twelfth. Brent Van Doninck ended up with two World Cup points and Kevin Fors fell just outside the points.
