Valentin Guillod beats Herlings in the British Grand Prix!!!
After his first Grand Prix victory in Spain, Standing Construct Yamaha rider Valentin Guillod takes his second GP victory of his career in the English Matterley Basin. Guillod beat Jeffrey Herlings in a direct match in England. Third place went to world champion Jordi Tixier.
If two fight for…Herlings still goes with it.
The holeshot went to Max Anstie who was ahead of Tonkov and Jonass. Pauls Jonass quickly took the lead, but it was Max Anstie who took over the lead on the second lap. Jonass, he stopped his engine a little later and so Guillod and Herlings crossed the Latvian. Max Anstie gave the impression of driving towards the series victory, but played it safe a little too hard and Guillod ended up in the wake of the Englishman. But Jeffrey Herlings also joined the leading duo with three laps to go. Starting in the last two laps, Guillod launched an attack on Anstie, who in turn immediately responded to the Swiss, but that was without Jeffrey Herlings. The Dutchman first took Guillod and then immediately went over Anstie. So as the saying goes… “when two fight…the third goes away” this was the case for Herlings who rode straight to victory in this first heat ahead of Guillod and Anstie. Julien Lieber became our best compatriot with twelfth place, Kevin Fors finished fifteenth just ahead of Jens Getteman who had to be satisfied with sixteenth place.

Valentin Guillod beats Herlings and takes GP victory…
The holeshot still belonged to Pauls Jonass ahead of teammate Jeffrey Herlings, but Valentin Guillod immediately took the lead. The Swiss immediately put the leader in the standings Herlings within a few seconds. For a moment it seemed that Herlings could not keep up with Guillod's pace and this caused world champion Jordi Tixier to almost reach Herlings' wheel. This was perhaps also the signal Herlings needed to drive back towards the leader Guillod. So Herlings went looking for the Swiss again and closed the gap with Guillod meter by meter. But Guillod did not want to budge and consistently drove fast lap times. As of the last laps, Herlings was almost on the leader's wheel and it was therefore a matter of waiting to see whether Guillod could cope with the pressure again. And yes, Valentin Guillod did not make a single mistake and won this second series by the smallest margin and also immediately took the Grand Prix victory. Jeffrey Herlings came second and Jordi Tixier came in third. Our best representative was again Julien Lieber who finished twelfth and Jens Getteman ultimately finished fifteenth. Kevin Fors fell and was forced to retire moments later.
