Dylan Ferrandis responds to FIM punishment
Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Dylan Ferrandis was a frustrated man after the race in Valkenwaard. The Frenchman had been struggling all weekend with the right set-up for the KX250F and also saw his fourth podium place of the season fall away when he extended his foot towards Pauls Jonass. This maneuver put Ferrandis back ten places and dropped to seventh place in the final standings.
“When everyone started to get tired I still felt OK,” Ferrandis said. “I was back in the suit and two corners before the starting area I went over Guillod, but Jonass saw me coming on the straight and we came dangerously close to each other and because we were going so fast I was afraid that we would touch each other with our handlebars. touch. I don't know why but I stuck my leg out for safety and certainly not to push him away. I knew he was getting tired and I was a little faster. I was just afraid that we were going to race against each other, because we were really close to each other. I have already suffered some injuries in recent years and did not want to fall again.”
This action was therefore punished by the FIM and after Jordi Tixier who received a one-month suspension after Thailand, this is the second punishment for the CLS Kawasaki team this season. “I don't understand the Federation,” said Ferrandis, who may move to the AMA Supercross circuit in 2016. “Okay, it wasn't right what I did, but we are in the world championship and my goal is to win. If you know the risks we already take in this sport, I think this is nothing. But now I'm looking ahead to Spain.”
Ferrandis turns 21 next month and Jeffrey Herlings is expected to make the move to MXGP in 2016, the Kawasaki rider will automatically be considered one of the title contenders. In order to disrupt the Red Bull KTM harmony that has been in power in this category since 2008.
The priority now will be to try to make up some points again (he is currently 37 points behind Herlings) and to bring the engine back up. “We have been having problems with the suspension for a few weeks and we have not yet found a solution, which is why I don't feel good on the bike yet,” he said after Valkenswaard. “Things weren't going smoothly on Saturday and I felt that I would crash at any time with every jump. My plan now is to stay in Holland for a while until we resolve this, especially because it was so terrible in Valkenswaard.”
