BKMX: Van Horebeek continues the momentum of 2014!
Today the Belgian Motocross Championship got underway in Moerbeke-Waas. The race could count on a nice field of participants including reigning Belgian Champion & Vice-World Champion Jeremy Van Horebeek, but also Kevin Strijbos, Ken De Dycker, Jeffrey Dewulf and the MX2 revelations of the season Pauls Jonass and Julien Lieber!
Despite all the opposition, however, there was no solution against Jeremy Van Horebeek. The reigning Belgian Champion won all three series on the sandy track of Moerbeke. That immediately makes him the winner everywhere in Moerbeke, and the first leader in the BK Inters Open of 2015. Behind him, we saw Kevin Strijbos, among others, complete two strong series during the day, alternating with a lesser round. The Suzuki pilot had enough with his two second places and his fifth place to finish second in the daily rankings ahead of Pauls Jonass who finished third twice and fifth once.
In the Inters MX2 class we saw the KEMEA Yamaha boys dominate. Brent Van Doninck won two motos and finished one moto second in the separate MX2 classification. This meant he was just ahead of his teammate Damon Graulus, who clinched second place twice and a victory once. The podium was completed by Mark Boot, who only finished fifth and two third places.
Unfortunately, there were also casualties today, for example Robin Bakens broke his wrist in the second heat. A big disappointment after a strong third place in the first MX2 round. In addition, Dieter Vromans also broke his fibula in a starting crash and we saw Ken De Dycker leave the third heat, a small crash and wrist pain could have been the cause of this.
