Canadian Arenacross champion wins in Goes!
The twenty-third Supercross in Goes was held last weekend. The meeting place was the Zeelandhallen, as has been the case for several years. As usual, a lot of attention was paid to the hobby pilots and the youth on Friday evening. The Inters Open only came into action on Friday for their one-on-one match and their elimination match. On Saturday, the youth and the Nationals SX1 and SX2 had the chance to shine in the side program of the Inters Open Class.
But we were mainly looking forward to the Inters Open Class. What could the retiring Mike Kras achieve in Goes? The place where he won for the first time in his career last year. The Dutchman, competing for Pol Motors, showed that he still knows his way around his motorcycle very well. But unfortunately Mike Kras was no match for the two-time Canadian Arenacross champion Ross Johnson. The American - who plays against Teddy Maier, Jeremy Medaglia, Tyler Medaglia and Adam Enticknap in Canada - first had to quickly accept starter Marcus Lee Soper in front of him in the final. However, the British Dutchman Soper could not enjoy the lead for long. Ross Johnson took over this authoritarian position and no longer looked after anyone. This is how the pilot, here at the invitation of the Reimerswaal timber trade, won his first King of Goes title!
Fortunately, behind the American Ross Johnson, we saw an interesting scene arise. Mike Kras, who started in fourth place, slowly but surely pushed him to second position with the support of a sold-out Zeelandhallen. This for the strong performing Spanish team of Jimmy Verburgh, Carlos Fernandez Macanas and the Belgian Kristof Salaets. It looked like Mike Kras would finish his last race on the podium, until the man from Fijnaart had an argument with the whoops halfway through the race. Spanish FMX4Ever pilot Carlos Fernandez Macanas and Kristof Salaets were quick to take advantage of this mistake to move up a place. Mike Kras, who was quickly able to continue his path again, did everything in his power to steal the third podium place from Salaets. However, the retiring Dutchman finished in that thankless fourth place behind the Belgian.
