Dean Ferris: “Focusing on the MXGP in 2015”
Dean Ferris is in the midst of his recovery from a broken femur that he suffered during the penultimate race of the 2014 World Championship. But he is already looking ahead to next season, where he will complete his first full season in the MXGP.
The Australian still needs to finalize a few details before signing his 2015 deal. But it is assumed that it will be Husqvarna and then the 24-year-old will have to choose between the FC350 and the FC450 machine. Ferris was initially linked to the Ricci Racing team, but last week we received confirmation that Rui Goncalves will join the Italian MXGP team. So that means he will probably get a place at Red Bull IceOne (where he raced the last five races as a wild card) or Jacky Martens' Wilvo Negaan team based in Lommel.
Ferris returned to the Grand Prix's after a difficult and with some unfortunate injuries left over from the AMA adventure with the Red Bull KTM team in the US. The winner of the 2013 Belgian GP only found an engine in Europe to contest the Finnish and Swedish GP. “ There wasn't much time and there was enormous pressure to complete these races. It was very difficult because I came out of an injury to get the speed to achieve good results. “He said after his sixth place in Finland and was very promising about Tyla Rattray's FC350 that he was riding.” “It was a hectic period with testing and setting the bike, but I did my best to have a chance of getting a good engine for next season.”
“So I'm putting all my eggs in one basket to be able to ride here in the MXGP (Pre 2015),” he said, “There was no other option in my mind to come back here to Europe. You have to go in the direction you want to go. I don't regret my choice, I had a great opportunity with Red Bull KTM and I took it.”
