Jeffrey Herlings takes victory in tropical Spain!!!
Jeffrey Herlings has won the Spanish Grand Prix with two series victories. Under tropical conditions, Herlings was clearly too strong for his competitors. Only for second place did we get to see a sample of motocross during the second series. The Kawasaki duo with Dylan Ferrandis and Arnaud Tonus completed the podium. Our compatriots Lieber and Graulus also made a positive impression during the first series with a sixth and seventh place.
Jeffrey Herlings start-finish victory…
World champion Jeffrey Herlings took the holeshot ahead of Tonus, Ferrandis, Tixier and Charlier. Our Belgians were also in a good position after the start with Lieber in sixth and Graulus in ninth place. The biggest casualty after the start was the winner of the Qualifying Race, the Swiss Valentin Guillod, who crashed on the first lap and had to immediately give chase. But five laps from the end and after crashes, Guillod even gave up. Nothing really changed at the front and Herlings drove further away from Tonus lap by lap. Only Febvre was in a duel with Tixier for fourth place, which was settled in Tixier's favor in the final laps. There was not much to experience in this first series and so Herlings rode unthreatened to victory in this first series ahead of the Kawasaki duo Tonus-Ferrandis
But apart from all this, we still saw a very good performance from our Belgians. Julien Lieber rode to a good sixth place and Damon Graulus took an equally good seventh place in this first series.

Jeffrey Herlings… but what a battle for second place!!!
It was home rider Jose Butron who took the holeshot in this second series ahead of Gajser, Febvre, Guillon and Tonus. The winner of the first series Herlings was in seventh place, just ahead of our compatriot Lieber. We immediately saw close racing between the top five from the opening round. Butron in the lead with the home crowd on his side and behind the whole gang with Febvre, Gajser, Herlings and Tonus within five seconds. Butron was able to spoil his home crowd for about ten laps, but then it was Herlings' turn. The World Champion immediately increased the pace and now it was time to see who would come second. First it was Tonus until he made a mistake and we got Butron back as number two. But starting on the last lap it was Febvre who claimed second place until he made another mistake and the Spaniard Butron returned to number two. But as the finish line approached, Butron also crashed and it was ultimately Tim Gajser who took second place after winner Herlings.
Among our compatriots, Julien Lieber crossed the finish line in eleventh place and Damon Graulus fell just outside the points after his impressive first series.
