The All Time GP winners…
We are once again on the eve of a new Grand Prix season. Next weekend the start of the 2014 MX World Championship will take place in Doha, Qatar. That's why we're taking a look back at the list of the All Time GP winners. From 1957 we started with the Motocross World Championship on the European continent.
For a long time it looked like our compatriot Joel Robert had set a milestone with his 50 GP victories. But it was Stefan Everts who broke the barrier of 50 GP victories and quickly reached 101 GP victories. Besides Stefan Everts, there are also two other pilots who have exceeded this magical milestone of 50 GP victories. In particular our compatriot Joel Smets who ended his career with 57 wins and current defending champion the Italian Antonio Cairoli who now has 63 wins.
If we look at the top fifteen of the All Time GP winners, we notice that there are only two names of the currently active pilots in the world championship. These are the current world champions Antonio Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings. Antioni Cairoli won his very first GP during the Belgian Grand Prix at the Citadel of Namur. Now eleven seasons later, he has already reached 63. The only 20-year-old Jeffrey Herlings is about to start his fifth Champagne World Championship, but already has 31 GP victories.
Knowing that both riders are in their top years and are also the favorites in their class for the start of the new World Championship. Then they will almost certainly be able to increase their GP victories. And maybe over the years we can cross the 100 mark...
