Dean Ferris takes his very first GP victory…
Australian Dean Ferris was able to win the Belgian MX2 Grand Prix in Bastogne. It had been since 2005 that an Australian had stood on the highest podium in the MX2 class. After the retirement of Jeffrey Herlings, the road to a Grand Prix victory was completely open again. Knowing that no one from the field of participants in this MX2 class has ever been able to win a GP victory. This makes Dean Ferris the first to remove the zero from his name and thus take his very first GP victory of his career.
In second place was KTM Red Bull rider Jordi Tixier. In the first series, Tixier had a good start and finished in second place. The second series was a little more difficult for Tixier and he only finished in fifth place and it was enough to take the second podium place.
Our northern neighbor Glenn Coldenhoff took the third podium place in Bastogne. In the first series he only took eighth place, but in the restart he was immediately in good shape. In the final laps of this second series, the Standing Construct rider was stranded in the wheel of overall winner Dean Ferris.
José Butron, Romain Febvre and Christophe Charlier each fell just one point short of reaching the podium.
Our compatriots then... Thierry Fors was our best compatriot in the Ardennes with 17th and with a 19th place in the heats, the Waaltje took six World Cup points. Furthermore, Brent Van Doninck and Damon Graulus also took home some points.
