Cairoli takes Italian MX1 title
The Open Italian Championship was in Gazzane di Presceglie towards its last round. The Russian Aleksandr Tonkov (Gariboldi Honda) won the MX2 round ahead of Sandro Lupino and 'good old' Alessio Chiodi. Nick Triest turned 9e. The MX2 title went to Sandro Lupino, who preceded 'Chicco' Chiodi and Ivo Monticelli in the final standings.
In the MX1 class, victory went to Antonio Cairoli ahead of Steven Frossard and David Guarneri. Frossard's teammate David Philippaerts had to drop out after 9 laps. Cairoli can also cheer in the final standings of the MX1 championship. Frossard also won the Elite round at the end of the day. The Monster Energy Yamaha rider did that ahead of Cairoli and Davide Guarneri. Once again, Philippaerts had to leave the team early and Nick Triest also did not make it to the end. For Frossard it was already the fourth victory in the Elite round. This means that the Frenchman is of course also the new Elite champion.
