The Belgian youth report: part 1
It has become a great tradition: for the third consecutive year we can present you the annual report of BMB national coach Yves Devlaminck. Yves has been employed as national coach since 2009 and is ideally placed to compare our most promising young people with foreign talent. Today we give you the first part of this unmissable file!
Bryan Angels
Yves Devlaminck: « Bryan has now been riding in the BMB for 3 seasons, and he is making progress year after year. In his last year on the 85cc he clearly took another big step. The crowning achievement of his 85cc career was a nice 5th place in the individual classification of the Coupe de l'avenir. At the same time, Bryan, who became Belgian champion, also proved that the Belgian Championship is more complete and stronger than many people think. I saw Bryan during a preparation internship and it struck me that he pays close attention, learns quickly and never 'loses' during a race. You can call him a good student. He must continue to work on a technical level, both in the field of difficult jumps; how and when to use the front brake as well as his position on the bike. Bryan is still too static. Next season he will switch to 125cc. I propose a transition year for the promises of the BMB that can be supplemented with some participations in the European Championship 125cc. To take the next step, he really needs to refine his technical skills and work on his speed on hard courts. Since he is well surrounded and has excellent equipment at his disposal, he has all the assets in hand.”
Cyril Enjoyment
Yves Devlaminck: “I don't actually know Cyril that well, but fortunately I have seen him work a few times in his own country. In Pierreux he immediately hit it hard! Cyril seems to have a good technical background, especially in the sand - where he has his roots - his qualities are clearly evident. You don't just become a champion in the 85cc in the KNMV! Cyril also gives 110% during training, he is not afraid of anything or anyone and is extremely motivated. He is often still busy in Lommel in the evening, which is a good sign. Hopefully he will continue to evolve step by step by riding and training on different surfaces. Of course it would also be nice if we could see him regularly in Belgium in the coming years…”
Yannick Heylen
Yves Devlaminck: “Yannick's last season in 85cc was generally quite positive. His most notable results were a victory in the ADAC and a handful of top five places at the start of the season in the sand during the ONK. Technically, Yannick still has some points that he needs to correct, such as using the rear brake too often or the position of his foot on the gear pedal. footswitch side. He also started looking for his own traces and he must certainly continue to do so. Nothing but praise for his position on the bike. Yannick sits very nicely on the bike and that should help him to safely switch to a 125cc, despite his small stature. If I had to list a negative point, it would be the impression he gives that he sometimes holds back/or that he saves his strength too much. I am thinking, for example, of the time training during preparatory internships. I think that in 2012 a combination of Beloften BMB and ONK 125cc would be ideal.”
Next week you will receive the second part of Yves Devlaminck's 'End of Year Report'. The second part features Daymond Martens, Nathan Renkens and Jordi Van Mieghem.
