Video: That other Parisian Supercross
In 1991, a number of French businessmen wanted to de Supercross from Bercy to take the cake. They tackled things big and booked it 'Parc des Princes'. At that time it was still the home of 'Les Bleus'. The promoters ran a monster campaign with radio and TV spots and advertisements in magazines for the 'broader audience'. The final would be shown live on the French commercial channel 'First'. The crowd puller of the competition would be none other than Jean-Michel Bayle become. After all, Bayle had secured the AMA Supercross title earlier that year.
On Saturday evening, September 7, 1991, the cream of French motocross plus a number of American and European top riders gathered in the largest stadium in the City of Light. Among them also two young Belgians: brand new 125cc world champions Stefan Everts and BMB Beloften champion Jaimy Scevenels.

In 1992 there was a second edition of the 'SX du Parc', but the competition disappeared from the calendar. The commercial channel 'La 5' did not fare any better. It went bust in the spring of 1992.
